Sun-Dried Tomato Flax Crackers

Updated: Jul 20, 2022

I was recently convinced to start incorporating sardines into my diet. Yes, those tiny little creatures packed away in this mini tin can. Sounds awfully disturbing, but the health benefits outway all the possible negative attitudes. Plus, if you already consume tuna on a regular basis, sardines will be a piece of cake. They have a very similar resemblence to canned tuna, and can mash up incredibly easy. I recommend purchasing the ones packed in oil. Sardines are a particularly good choice for healthy animal fats because they are so close to the bottom of the food chain.Because of this, they have less of a chance to be contaminated with toxins like mercury and other pollutants. The bones (high in vitamins and minerals) are still intacked, yet are soft enough to mash up with a fork.

If you're not daring enough to eat sardines straight from the can, try adding them on top of these homemade flax crackers. If you've been looking for the perfect gluten-free, minimal ingredient, and tasty cracker, then you've came to the right place. Purchasing this style of crackers at the market will run you $6.99 and up, but making them yourself at home is almost a quarter of the price. Plus, you get to control the ingredients and flavor combinations. You can omit the spices and sun-dried tomatoes, for a sweeter cracker. Try using cinnamon and raisins to mix things up!
